They released my personal information to my ex husband, including an account number via an unsecured email. I am the VP of a $5B financial institution, specifically, Collections, and understand their practice is unethical and illegal. In the meantime, my credit has been impacted. The collection agency cannot provide any information other than its outstanding and no one at Wise Care is willing to assist. I spoke to another Wise Care agent who told me this is a common complaint about her and to escalate because she does not respond. I was told only the Clinical Manager, Rose, could resolve this for me but I have left her several messages without response. I informed them that the $101.32 was paid on 1/20/20 and therefore a late fee assessment in July, and subsequent referral to an agency, was invalid. They had my ex husband's address and email address on file and made no attempt to contact me despite using my actual address to invoice me (and receive prompt payment) for other services. I contacted Wise Care and was told a late fee of $26.27, effective 7/31/20 was referred (and fees added to total $35.47) in addition to the original charge of $101.32 being due. They referred me to Wise Care because they received no supporting documentation and could not tell me what this was for. On 11/3/20 I was made aware that Bay Area Receivables placed a collection item on my credit report for $35.47. Unethical referral of a paid item to a collection agency, damaging credit and refusing contact to resolve.
